Easter Recap!

Thanks for being patient - or not so patient, depending on who you are - with the lack of blog posts....tax season is finally over and the catch up posts are in full swing, as are my creative endeavors - lots of fun stuff headed to blogland. But first, a recap of Easter and a cute, easy DIY hair accessory.

This was the dear hubby & me Easter morning:

I didn't have time to shop for anything new, so I shopped my closet for something springy...and instead, made a new matching hair accessory...

I took a doily from Sweet Vintage and a strip of the cute Dear Lizzy fabric paper, and pleated the self-adhesive fabric paper into a circle and stuck it to the doily. I then grabbed a giant button out of my stash and sewed the button and the whole ensemble onto a bobby pin at the same time. Voila...quick and easy...

It is much harder to take pictures of the back of your head in a car than it is to actually make the hairpiece!! In between a gazillion tries, I took a picture of my handsome husband.

Jenny, at my work, is one of the secretaries and I am not kidding when I say she does NOT look fifty (I could not believe it when I heard it!!)...anyways, I made this card for her...using her favorite colors...and my favorite technique (crumpled flowers)...the inside has a funny little saying...so don't be fooled by the sweet exterior! =)

Happy Birthday Card

Up today a "manly" card for my Daddy's birthday...I think man-cards are so hard to make...I tend to buy really "girly" supplies (um, can we say lace, pink, bows, and more lace?!?!) so I guess that's probably what makes it so tough!! And my new thing is to embellish the envelopes with matching supplies...cute, huh?

I Heart Showers...

...of all kinds! I love to decorate and eat party food....mmm...meatballs, cheese dip, yummy tart punch...anyways...I threw a little shower for this sweet girl...with lots of lace, soft colors and cupcakes! My first attempt at "pretty cupcakes"...a little short of the mark, but they tasted pretty good!! =) I made little dimensional cupcake toppers....and used many kinds of sprinkles...

Like I said, not perfect...but...did I mention they tasted good? The leftovers didn't make it a day at my work...

A little scrapbook paper, coffee filter, lacey banner...I have a little thing for banners...so glad they're "in" right now...

And I decorated the windows like little shop windows with hearts, flowers, and lace and fitted (scrapbook paper) scalloped valances...I finally got to use all that vintage fancy lace I ordered for my wedding and didn't really get to use!!

Awwww, how sweet.

The best part? He left me a big glass of water to wash off the ice with...but yes, you guessed it...I left all the love notes...I just couldn't bear to wash them off!!!

Dear Lizzy Love...

I splurged and used some of my Christmas savings on some of the new Dear Lizzy line...love the color scheme SO much...somehow I made a teensy bit of time to play with it when it came in...this layout is pretty much 100% American Crafts...love them!
These pictures are back from our honeymoon...slowly getting all of the wedding/honeymoon time scrapped....I trimmed a banner out of the cutie-pie patterned paper...and the circles out of a different piece of patterned paper and added lots of cute embellishments - including several different 3D stickers, paper flowers and rubons from both the Dear Lizzy line and the recent American Crafts valentines line...American Crafts brads, flair and crocheted flowers finish it off...and this just might be my faaaavorite layout ever. =)

A Belated Post...

...Mostly, this post was fueled by guilt, because honestly, how could I have withheld these pictures from Melissa?! They are tooooooooooooo cute for words. =)

I think this might be the best one of the bunch!

Then, of course, the famous grab-Daddy's-leg pose...And the face that comes right before the delighted "CANDY!" squeal! Haha! MIA!

Sorry I've been so MIA...mostly all I have been up to is working + sleeping. Tax season is alllmmoooostt (a month, haha!) over and I will return to regular scheduled blog posts! I really want to keep this joker up, but I don't really have anything crafty to post and I didn't plan ahead - next year, I'll be sure to have lots of automated posts ready to go!! =)

I promise though, come April 15th, we'll be back to a bit of blog normality around here!

Housewarming Card.

Made a quick housewarming card for a card shower (have ya'll ever heard of these?...such a sweet idea, you send cards and gifts around a certain time in leiu of an actual shower for out of town friends and family...really clever!)...a little Sassafrass, some GCD Studios favorite scraps and a little making memories... With a fun little gift card holder inside!
